International Fuel Technology Improves Bio-Diesel Fuel Blends
St. Louis, MO - International Fuel Technology, Inc. recently announced that BfB Laboratories, a world renowned independent test facility located in Belgium, recently completed extensive testing on a number of fuel additives and their impact on bio-diesel fuel blends. IFT's multi-functional additive technology clearly demonstrated that it provides significant benefits and solutions to two very critical issues associated with bio-diesel use: oxidation stabilization and deposit control, according to the tests conducted by BfB Laboratories.
IFT's proprietary fuel additive technology along with fuel additive technologies from leading fuel additive companies were tested to determine their effectiveness with respect to oxidation stabilization and deposit control in bio-diesel fuel blends. On a stand-alone basis, IFT technology outperformed all of the other fuel additive technologies in addressing deposit control and performed better than average in addressing oxidation stabilization. In addition, IFT technology clearly demonstrated the ability to significantly enhance the performance of numerous other additive technologies in addressing oxidation stabilization. In fact a combination of IFT's technology with another company's additive technology resulted in the top performing additive technology for addressing oxidation control. The rapid and projected worldwide growth of the bio-diesel market has created a great opportunity for IFT's multi-functional additive technology. The bio-diesel component of a bio-diesel fuel blend is not only a renewable energy source, but also one that burns cleaner. Mandates for increased usage of bio-diesel are prevalent in a growing number of countries and parts of the world. As an example, in Europe alone mandates require that by 2008, all diesel fuel consumed in Europe contain at least 5.75% by energy content of bio-diesel.
"The worldwide focus on renewable, cleaner energy sources such as bio-diesel is undeniable. Just as ethanol blended into gasoline has become a market reality, so too is the market for bio-diesel blended into diesel fuel," said Sergio C. Trindade, IFT's Chief of Science and Technology. "In addition to consistent independent laboratory test demonstrations confirming substantial fuel economy gains, independent laboratory tests now demonstrate that IFT's multi-functional fuel additive technology significantly address two major issues related to bio-diesel use in a cost effective way."
Axel Farhi, IFT's Director of Global Business Development, said, "The results from BfB will allow IFT to position itself commercially as an additive partner of choice for the rapidly expanding bio-diesel industry. This is a clear confirmation of the ability of IFT technology to improve the quality and stability of bio-diesel fuel blends at a critical time when the world is progressively moving toward their increased use. This also confirms the multi-functional nature of IFT technology and its remarkable effect improving the performance and environmental quality of diesel fuels."
IFT is actively engaged in discussions with the bio-diesel production industry and fuel additive companies regarding the specific benefits that IFT's additive technology brings to bio-diesel fuel blends. The test results achieved at BfB Laboratories have served to demonstrate the efficacy of IFT's technology regarding its use with bio-fuels and further discussions with potential bio-diesel producers and industry distribution partners.
