Eco-Tec And Apollo Environmental Systems Limited Join To Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Eco-Tec Launches BioGas Purification System for Energy Recovery

Pickering, Ontario — Eco-Tec recently announced its newest Sales and Marketing division, Eco-Tec Gas Processing, in conjunction with its exclusive licensing rights of Apollo Environmental Systems Limited's proprietary technology. Eco-Tec will present its BioGas Purification System during this year's Growing the Margins Conference held in London, Ontario, April 11-14, 2007.

About the Acquisition
Eco-Tec has acquired rights for the Apollo Environmental Systems Limited's technology. Included in the agreement are multiple patents for, and acquired knowledge of, specific applications to purify methane and other gases. The recovery and purification process allows gases produced through anaerobic digestion to be used for power, steam, or heat generation. This energy recovery results in dramatic reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.

About the Technology
Biogas is a mixture of methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2) and is often contaminated with toxic quantities of hydrogen sulfide (H2S). The technology is a biogas scrubbing process for the removal of H2S and particulate matter from biogas as it is produced. Using a patented, high efficiency gas-liquid contacting process, H2S is absorbed and the gas is purified for reuse in power generation facilities, cogeneration facilities, boiler units, and other heating applications.

About the Applications
Eco-Tec proudly presents a product that effectively and economically purifies gases produced through anaerobic digestion. Anaerobic digestion processes take place in facilities such as: municipal waste treatment plants, landfills, food processing facilities, and livestock farms. Each facility type has various levels of H2S, and all can be easily and economically removed from the produced biogas with Eco-Tec's new system.

About the Synergies
Born out of the ingenious minds from the University of Toronto's Department of Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry, the biogas scrubbing technology joins other Eco-Tec innovative technologies, such as Recoflo®. All of Eco-Tec's products offer high purification and recovery in a simple package with proven reliability. The key characteristics of the newly acquired technology provide a synergistic addition to the product line, offering economical solutions to address industrial operating needs and sustainable development.
