Eco-Tec Inc. Announced Sale Of Water Treatment System To Constellation Energy

Eco-Tec Inc. announced the sale of a water treatment system to Constellation Energy for their Wagner Generating Station located in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. The Wagner Station is a 1,020 MW base load coal fired station with supercritical boilers.

Constellation Energy has been outsourcing for part of their boiler make up water supply but also considered the purchase and installation of a permanent system to improve operating cost efficiencies. Constellation Energy required a system that could produce high purity water with a conductivity less than 0.1 µS/cm, silica less than 30 ppb, and sodium less than 10 ppb. They decided to purchase an Eco-Tec system consisting of a Spectrum Micro Media Filter – Lite and a Recoflo® TriFlo Demineralizer. The TriFlo Demineralizer will produce their high purity water directly from a city water supply without the use of mixed resin beds. The use of reverse osmosis pretreatment was not determined to be economical due to the requirement to purchase additional quantities of city water to produce the required capacity. Other advantages of the TriFlo system were the small space requirement, minimized operator attention and an integrated Feed Forward Control which automatically adjusts operating conditions based on feed water total dissolved solids. As with all of Eco-Tec's equipment, the system will be skidmounted and pre-tested to produce the specified water quality in Eco-Tec's manufacturing facility prior to shipping.
