Hydrostatic Gauging Systems
The techniques employed by Enraf tank gauging systems are complementary, yet each has its own advantage. The hydrostatic systems, which can be used in a mixed installation with SmartRadar level gauges and ATG and XTG servo gauges, include:
Hydrostatic Tank Gauging HTG, a system based on the use of intelligent hydrostatic pressure transmitters. Basically the system is designed for direct mass measurement.
Hybrid Inventory Measurement System HIMS, a system which combines both level based tank gauging and hydrostatic tank gauging. This system combines the best of direct mass measurement and level measurement.
Both Enraf HTG and HIMS systems have been made possible through the development of intelligent digital hydrostatic pressure transmitters. Important features which are necessary for tank inventory measurement include:
Industry standard communication protocols, by using the HART and other proprietary protocols.
Precise and reliable pressure measurement
Stable data output achieved by an on-board microprocessor, allowing compensation for temperature effects and systematic transmitter deviations.
High resistance to aggressive stored liquids by using materials such as Hasteloy C diaphragm material and stainless steel process flanges.
