A versatile multi-channel process FT-NIR analyzer for operation in potentially explosive atmospheres

ABB is proud to announce the release of the new FTPA2000-HP260X fully-integrated process FT-NIR analyzer for use in Hazardous Area locations. This unit replaces the former FTPA2000-HP260 with ATEX / C1D2 upgrade and ATEX / C1D2 PC.

The FTPA2000-HP260X is now a simpler and more cost-effective one-box solution for hazardous area multi-channel fibre-optic process FT-NIR analyzer. It is suitable for applications such as Crude Distillation, Hydrocracking, Fluid Catalytic Cracking, Lube Base Oils, Offsites Main Fuel Blending etc.

Key features include:

  • A one-box solution for Hazardous Area operation
  • Includes User Interface, Touch Screen, Data Controller, space for all I/O hardware and functions
  • All in one compact enclosure for easy, low-utility Analyzer House installation
  • Replaces and improves previous FTPA2000-HP260 ATEX package and eliminates need for separate ATEX PC enclosure
  • Based on the core ABB FT-NIR Michelson cube-corner interferometer technology
  • Maintains the same performance level and calibration transfer capability as the other ABB FT-NIR analyzers
  • Can be interfaced to a wide range of sample interface devices
  • The FTPA2000-HP260X is certified to meet ATEX Category II Gas
  • The fiber optic cables and sample interface (probes / sample cells..) are certified to be installed in ATEX Category I for Gas and Dust
  • Marking of the equipment:
    • II (1)/2 G Ex e ib mb px [op is Ga] IIC T4 Gb
    • II (1) D [Ex op is Da] IIIC
  • Compatible with both low-OH silica and ZrF4 fibre optics; allows use for black product applications, crude oil, bunker oil, heavy fuel oil blending
  • Up to 8 separate analysis channels with capability for different flow-cell temperatures, path-lengths, ranges and detectors for each channel
  • TE-cooled detectors (option) for maximum sensitivity and fastest response

Key benefits include:

  • Fully integrated, with in-built control I/O for external and internal sample system control
  • Easier to install and commission with reduced space requirement
  • No need for additional PLC controllers or interfaces
  • Intuitive, easy-to-use software interface and application set-up
  • Field-proven robust analyzer package for reliable 24/7 operation
  • Flexible analyzer platform for multiple refinery hydrocarbon applications including heavier unit streams such as CDU feed & rundowns, base oils, VGO and HGO applications etc
  • Multi-stream and multi-property analyses of refinery hydrocarbon streams with fast response
