Stackmatch Flare Ignition Inc. Rod flare pilot system with by-pass fuel jets has an inverted nozzle arrangement, with top and bottom diversion plates, was designed to allow the spent nozzle gas to continuously clean the pilot nozzle. As the spent gas escapes to atmosphere, this downward jetting action further protects the nozzle cavity from contamination, should liquids or solids, be expelled from the flare.

The pilot nozzle cavity allows for flame stability. The internal geometry of the nozzle is calculated to provide a firmly rooted and highly protected pilot flame configuration, which results in extreme pilot flame stability even when subjected to 200 M.P.H winds and rain.

The pilot diversion plates allow for excellent flare flow dynamic range. Strategically located so that any gas escaping from the flare is forced to circulate between these plates, this circulating function allows for proper flare gas ignition even when the flare exit gas velocity is very slow or at critical velocity. The lower diversion plate can be equipped with two or more raw fuel jets to produce one or more large multi-directional flame(s).

This pilot is also equipped with an ignition method. Electronic pilot control packages are available in either explosion proof or non-explosion proof configurations. These controls are constructed to operate from any industrial power source, such as 12 or 24 VDC and 115 or 230 VAC 50/60 Hz.
