The Environmentalist sub-soil probe extracts an 0.8-in.-diameter, 3-ft-long sample. Either a manually operated slide-hammer or an electric hammer may be used to drive the sampling tube to depths exceeding 15 ft. A foot-operated jack retrieves the sampling tube. Obtained samples are uncontaminated by surface debris during the sampling procedure, which encases each sample in a clear-plastic or stainless-steel liner. Capped liners may be sent for laboratory analysis. A 16-page, color catalog describing this probe and many others and procedures for their use is available.
