50 KHz Counter/Flowmeter Input Module

The 50KHz Counter/Flowmeter input model designed specifically for the Allen-Bradley SLC500 PLC is available in two configurations. The 1746sc-CTR8 has 8 input channels and the 1746sc-CTR4 is a 4 input channel version. The module is designed to be used in a broad base of applications including flow measurement, process frequency and count measurement, and meter proving. The module offers high channel density and performance relative to existing offerings and has an excellent price/performance ratio.

The features incorporated into this module address current market requirements for higher channel density and performance. The module can measure AC and DC input frequencies of up to 50KHz. The module has an on board microprocessor that will convert counter inputs into a frequency data. Counter inputs can be configured in pairs for quadrature encoding. Total count and the calculated input frequency will be available to the PLC at the same time. An input scale factor "K" will be programmable for each channel, and can be used for range scaling or for Flow Meter calibration. The counter's accumulator is available in two ranges. The maximum count total for the small range is 32K, the larger uses two data words per channel and will count up to 16M. The channel update rate varies depending on the output mode. Typical update rates are in the 4 msec per channel range.
