KFPE tower packing is intended for improving the performance of steam strippers used in FCC catalyst reactivation.
KFPE tower packing is intended for improving the performance of steam strippers used in FCC catalyst reactivation. Steam is normally injected at the lower end of the unit to remove volatiles as the catalyst descends. Internals are used to maximize contact between steam and solids, improving the stripping effect. However, conventional disk-and-doughnut internals have limited effect. The KFPE packing disperses the injected steam into finer vapor bubbles, with more even distribution in the catalyst bed. The result is lowered steam consumption, reduced specific-air requirment, and fewer catalyst losses to the solids trap. The packing has also been used successfully in fluidized beds for evening out or shortening drying processes.
