Air Liquide America expands specialty gas capabilities in Texas
Located strategically in the center of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, the Grand Prairie laboratory allows Air Liquide America better access to its regional customers in such industries as electronics fabrication, oil and gas processing, and industrial research and development. The new facility complements Air Liquide America's specialty gas primary labs in Santa Fe Springs, Calif., and La Porte, Texas.
This new laboratory is equipped with a full range of analytical capabilities and instrumentation for raw material, process control and finished product analysis. The facility's gas chromatograph/mass spectrometer provides qualitative and quantitative analysis. The fill system adjacent to the laboratory facilitates efficient cylinder handling; quick filling and analysis with organized pallet loading will further minimize lead times for customers.
Production at the Grand Prairie lab includes Air Liquide America's Alphagaz 1 high-purity gases, Lasal, custom atmospheric mixtures, gravimetric mixtures and low molecular weight hydrocarbon mixtures. Blend types include primary, NIST traceable, certified and certified-plus blending for single-cylinder or multi-cylinder filling.
Richard Bowen supervises the new operation as spec gas lab manager. "With Richard at the helm, the new facility will be a key resource for our customers in this region," said Terry Dubiel, area cylinder operations manager. "He has more than 30 years of experience analyzing specialty gases, blending gas mixtures and performing research."
Besides the Grand Prairie, Santa Fe Springs and La Porte sites, Air Liquide America operates specialty gas facilities in Morrisville, Pa., and Cambridge, Md., and at seven regional sites throughout the country. Air Liquide America sells more than 350,000 specialty gas cylinders per year, including ultra-high purity gases, calibration standards including gas or liquid phase, EPA protocol blends, industrial hygiene standards, electronics gases, rare gases and pure chemical and hydrocarbon products. The company is a leading provider of specialty gas solutions for the laboratory, environmental, chemical and research markets, optimizing gas supply systems via cylinders, bulk or onsite generation.
