AMETEK Technical Alliance With Yan Shan Mei Ke To Develop Tank Gauging System For China Petroleum Market

Beijing, China - AMETEK Automation & Process Technologies has formed a Strategic Technology Alliance with Yan Shan Mei Ke (YSMK) Electronic Instrument Company to develop Automatic Tank Gauging (ATG) and Inventory Monitoring Systems specifically for the Chinese petroleum market.

Yan Shan Mei Ke (YSMK) is a joint venture of Beijing Yan Shan Shidai Electronic Instrument Company and Beijing HuaMeiTe Technology and Trading Company. Yan Shan is a subsidiary company of Sinopec (China Petroleum & Chemical Company), China's largest producer of petroleum and petrochemical products and a leading refiner of fuel, lubrication oil and petrochemical feed stocks. HuaMeiTe is an original equipment manufacturer for the AMETEK ATG System in China.

"AMETEK is pleased with our alliance with Yan Shan Mei Ke," comments James Visnic, Vice President and General Manager of AMETEK Sensor Technology. "Through the alliance, AMETEK will provide technical support and other guidance with sensor communications protocols, controller testing and evaluation, while our partner will incorporate our newly patented 7250 Series high-resolution digital probe into their controller.

"We believe our system is superior to other wired systems currently available in China and competitive with any of the newest products available in the United States. Our new probe provides .0001" resolution and is the highest resolution probe available for these systems," adds Mr. Visnic

YSMK systems are designed to meet China's growing need for modern petroleum distribution facilities and retail gasoline stations, while ensuring compliance with environmental concerns. They combine the field-proven reliability of AMETEK's patented level sensor technology with user-friendly controls configured especially for the Chinese market that will allow companies to manage inventory, provide leak detection reports and improve environmental control

AMETEK is one of the world's leading suppliers of Leak Detection and Inventory Management sensors for petroleum storage tanks and is an undisputed leader in magnetostrictive level probes used in ATG leak detection worldwide with an installed base of approximately 100,000 tanks, or 25% of the current worldwide market.

With its headquarters in Paoli, Pennsylvania, USA, AMETEK, Inc. is a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electric motors with annualized sales of more than $1.6 billion.

AMETEK employs nearly 10,000 people worldwide and has over 60 manufacturing operations and 60 sales and service centers in more than 30 countries, including a wholly owned manufacturing plant in Shanghai, China, with approximately 700 employees and a joint venture manufacturing operation in Xiamen, China.
