Baker Jardine & Associates (BJA) was formed in 1985 when Alan Baker and Iain Jardine joined their individual companies. The newly formed company concentrated on two areas of the Oil & Gas Industry; Fluid Flow & Risk Analysis and set up headquarters in Earls Court, London, with a regional offices in Gatehouse of Fleet, Scotland. Before long a software support and services office was set up in Aberdeen followed by a development office in Glasgow.

The fluid flow group, under Alan Baker's direction, continued to develop the PIPESIM family of software for modelling fluid flow in wells, pipelines and Networks; with Iain Jardine's group concentrating on their MAROS simulator.

In 1993/4 the risk analysis side of the business was sold to enable Baker Jardine to concentrate on the fluid flow software and consultancy services.

In 1994 a US office was opened operating out of Houston, Texas, to support the increasing number of US and South America clients.

This was followed in 1996 by a similar office in Kuala Lumpur (now relocated to Bangkok, Thailand) to service the Far East. The same year also saw the opening of a local support office in Mexico City, Mexico.

In 1997 a Venezuelan office was established in Maracaibo followed by an office in Calgary, Canada in 1998.
