The 1470 battery tester combines traditional DC cycling with high-speed pulse and impedance measurements in a single compact package, providing researchers and production engineers with a tool for testing, analyzing, and predicting the behavior of batteries, fuel cells and supercapacitors. Each unit has eight independent programmable channels, each with its own potentiostat/galvanostat, and precision high-speed data capture. Any channel can be connected to an external frequency response analyzer (FRA) for impedance measurements.
Units can be combined to construct larger systems, up to 96 channels, and larger systems can be created if required, using multiple computers. Every channel has dual 10kHz, 16-bit data acquisition modules, to ensure that no data is lost during testing. The unit's built-in data filtering system transmits data from a channel to the controlling PC when there is a change in the measured data. For steady state discharging, measurements are transmitted every few minutes, whereas during a high-power pulse discharge, many hundreds of data points are logged. All this is under user control.
