Building The Feedstock Backbone For Sustainable Aviation Fuel

FatHopes Energy and MotionECO today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a strategic partnership focused on the sourcing and long-term supply of second-generation biofuel feedstock to support Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production.

The MoU exchange took place during the MyAERO Symposium 2026, held at Everly Hotel Putrajaya from 30 June to 2 July 2026, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers and innovators to accelerate the future of aviation and sustainable mobility.

Under the collaboration, MotionECO will act as FatHopes Energy’s strategic sourcing partner for Used Cooking Oil (UCO) and other qualifying sustainable feedstocks originating from China. The partnership is designed to support the development of a secure, traceable and scalable feedstock supply chain, with a shared ambition of achieving stable-state supply volumes exceeding 200,000 metric tonnes per annum.

At the centre of the partnership is MotionECO’s deep experience in feedstock sourcing and supply chain development, led by its founder and CEO, Shutong Liu. Widely recognised within the sustainable fuels ecosystem, Shutong has played an active role in advancing cross-border feedstock networks and supporting the development of renewable fuel supply chains across Asia. His industry experience includes working alongside leading global energy and fuel ecosystem stakeholders, including BP, and contributing to initiatives that strengthen commercial pathways for sustainable fuel adoption.

Founded as one of China’s early movers in sustainable feedstock sourcing and circular resource development, MotionECO brings more than a decade of experience in building and scaling feedstock collection and aggregation networks. Through its sourcing ecosystem and established agent network, the company has supported feedstock procurement initiatives serving major international energy market participants, reinforcing its position as a credible and experienced partner within the regional biofuel value chain.

The collaboration forms part of FatHopes Energy’s broader strategy to strengthen Malaysia’s SAF ecosystem through responsible sourcing, traceability and long-term feedstock security.

Through the proposed partnership, MotionECO will lead feedstock collection, sourcing, sustainability certification and logistics management, while FatHopes Energy will serve as the intended off-taker and downstream development partner. Together, both parties will work towards establishing supply chain readiness and a roadmap for future commercial delivery.

The initiative is expected to support future feedstock delivery into FatHopes Energy’s planned Sustainable Aviation Fuel refinery ecosystem in Malaysia and strengthen connectivity between feedstock-producing and refining markets across Asia.

Vinesh Sinha, CEO of FatHopes Energy, shared, “Scaling Sustainable Aviation Fuel requires more than refining capability; it requires confidence in long-term feedstock availability. MotionECO brings both sourcing depth and operational credibility to help strengthen supply resilience across the region. This partnership reflects our commitment to building the foundations needed to support future low-carbon aviation demand and accelerate Malaysia’s role in the SAF value chain.”

“The future of Sustainable Aviation Fuel will be defined by the ability to secure sustainable feedstock at scale and connect supply with demand across borders. Through years of working across feedstock ecosystems and engaging with global energy stakeholders, we have seen first-hand the importance of building transparent and resilient supply chains. Our partnership with FatHopes Energy represents an opportunity to connect China’s feedstock strengths with Southeast Asia’s growing SAF ambitions and contribute towards a more commercially scalable low-carbon aviation future,” shared Shutong Liu, CEO of MotionECO.

This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to enabling practical and commercially viable pathways towards decarbonisation within the aviation sector and supporting the growth of sustainable fuel infrastructure across Asia.
