Datastream Systems, Inc.> recently completed an 18-month installation of the MP5i enterprise asset management system at Slovnaft a.s., the largest oil and gas company in Slovakia. The installation includes a 250-user network in five facilities and complete integration with Oracle Applications 11. Using its open systems architecture, MP5i is now linked to Slovnaft's existing Oracle business systems, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, and Fixed Assets.

Slovnaft, the largest oil company in Slovakia, uses MP5i to manage critical assets at the company's manufacturing facilities for crude oil processing, refining, plastics, asphalts, lubricants, petrochemicals, and utilities production, as well as for supplementary facilities like wastewater treatment and railroad facilities.

MP5i will also be a critical part of Slovnaft's Environmental Fuel Project Apollo (EFPA), a recently-completed, state-of-the-art program created to increase refinery conversion rate and maximize production of higher value-added products (mostly motor fuels) expanding heavy heating oil while decreasing pollution. EFPA is a $526 million (USD) effort designed to allow Slovnaft to meet current and future environmental European Union motor fuels requirements.

"Installing the MP5i system across our facilities was an important step forward for improving the management of our assets, both manufacturing and non-manufacturing," said Jan Kavec, vice president of production for Slovnaft. "Slovnaft required a fully-functional enterprise asset management solution within an acceptable timeframe and budget, and MP5i provided a streamlined, comprehensive solution. In addition, Datastream, with the help of its distributor INSEKO a.s., provided the only true Slovak-language product available that included local implementation and technical support."

"The MP5i enterprise asset management system has been widely accepted by asset-intensive industries such as oil and gas because of its extensive asset management capabilities and open architecture," said Larry Blackwell, president and CEO of Datastream. "As a highly configurable solution, the MP5i solution allows complex organizations like Slovnaft to benefit from a packaged solution—not a costly, customized system. The Slovnaft installation proves our ability to provide high-end solutions for companies looking to implement an enterprise asset management solution as a critical part of their overall business strategy."

The industry's first fully Web-architected enterprise asset management (EAM) system, MP5i employs an n-tier architecture composed of a database server, application server and client and was designed with the Oracle Developer/2000 toolset. This proven Oracle technology delivers Java applets to the client to provide complete functionality through a browser interface. MP5i features an open systems architecture that permits rapid integration with other software applications such as enterprise resource planning (ERP), financial management, document management and production controls.
