DB Robinson & Associates Ltd
1 – Contract laboratory measurements and data interpretation
2 – Design and manufacture of high pressure, high temperature laboratory equipment
3 – Modeling of experimental data and software product development
4 – Training and Technology Transfer in DBR's areas of expertise
While the majority of the studies performed at DBR are related to specialized problems in the petroleum and petrochemical industries, studies have been successfully completed for the food processing and chemical industries as well.
Research and Laboratory Services
Laboratory research services are provided by DBR Research Ltd. Quality measurements and interpretation of specialized phase behavior and fluid property data are provided to meet the individual needs of each customer. Areas of expertise include PVT studies; enhanced oil recovery and miscibility studies; coreflooding; solid deposition studies related to hydrate, diamondoid, sulfur, paraffin and asphaltene formation and inhibition or remediation; waxy oil studies; amine, glycol and other specialized phase behavior research.
Design and Manufacture of Laboratory Equipment
The DBR line of laboratory equipment is designed and manufactured for export sale by DBR Design & Manufacturing. The DBR line of high pressure, high temperature laboratory equipment is designed for accurate experimental measurement of fluid phase behavior and related physical properties such as the type of studies performed by DBR Research Ltd. In addition to offering the DBR line of equipment, DBR D&M also provides custom design services, a quality assurance program and operator training programs.
Software Products and Model Development
DBR develops and markets technical software. Based on the Peng-Robinson Equation of State and the best available data, the DBR Engineering Suite is used for the accurate prediction of fluid properties and phase behavior of hydrocarbon and related fluids. Specific products marketed in the DBR Engineering Suite include: AMSIM, PVTPro, PVT ReCORD, DBR Hydrate, DBR Solids, and Sulfur Solubility. AMSIM is used to reliably simulate the removal of acid gasses from sour gas and liquid streams. Reliable simulation of these potentially harmful constituents minimizes environmental impact while defining the optimum design and operational conditions. DBR also provides Ph.D. level software and model developers to customize products for use by other software and simulation groups.
Training and Technology Transfer
Based upon extensive knowledge and experience in the phase behavior laboratory service, research, equipment and modeling industries, the DBR Group of Companies offers training and technology transfer programs to companies wanting to acquire capabilities in these areas of expertise. Programs range from tailor made courses on a series of specific topics to comprehensive technology transfer and cooperative management projects for research organizations wanting to acquire the full range of capabilities of DBR style laboratory studies.
International Experience
The majority of DBR's customer base and work originates outside of Canada. To better serve the United States and other international markets, DBR has established the offices of DBR Fluid Properties Inc. in Houston, Texas.
Besides North America, DBR's activities are currently being focused in South America, the Middle East, North Africa, the Asia-Pacific and Australia DBR currently has agents in Brazil, China, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mexico, Norway, Russia and CIS, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan and the United Arab Emirates.
