Our response to COVID-19: A smart platform that monitors the propagation of the virus by taking samples from the wastewater network.

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, we stepped up our research efforts and developed a method to quantify the number of genomic units of SARS CoV2 (coronavirus) in wastewater. By integrating strategic sampling across the network and a calibrated hydraulic model of the infrastructure, we are now able to measure the concentration of the virus in wastewater, flag potential sources of the pandemic, and alert public authorities to take action and stop further transmission.
