Honeywell Launches Sensepoint XCD RFD For Flammable Gas Sensors

Honeywell recently announced the launch of Sensepoint XCD Remote Flammable Detector (RFD), a gas transmitter specifically designed for use with remotely mounted flammable gas sensors.
Sensepoint XCD combines cost-effective performance and maintenance with ease of use and the flexibility to meet the demands of a wide range of varied environments requiring the detection of flammable gases.
The remote mount aspect of Sensepoint XCD RFD makes the device ideal for challenging environments where detection is difficult, such as locations that are hard to reach and require separate sensor mounting from the transmitter or hot environments where ambient temperatures reach up to 150°C/302°F. The transmitter can be mounted at a suitable location up to 30 metres/100 feet away from the sensor, providing users with easy access to the device's interface and the ability to remotely configure the transmitter away from the sensor itself.
Sensepoint XCD RFD:
- Helps keep sites safe with enhanced, easily accessible visual cues. The device's unique, fully illuminated tri-colour LCD shows the transmitter's status – normal, warning/fault or alarm – at a glance, even from a distance. A steady green backlight indicates normal operation, flashing yellow indicates warning/fault and flashing red indicates an alarm. This benefits the user by making devices requiring attention easier to find on-site.
- Simplifies set up and configuration with its LCD and non-intrusive magnetic switches, which helps reduce ongoing costs of gas.
- Minimises false alarms through an auto-inhibit of outputs when the device is being adjusted, preventing unnecessary false alarms at the control panel and enabling an engineer to make changes to the device in the field without requiring a second operator at the control panel to manually inhibit the device.
- Lets users choose catalytic bead or IR-based detection; the device can be used with the both the Sensepoint standard and Sensepoint High-Temperature sensors.
- Allows low alarm set points, ideal for some gas turbine applications. The 0-20%LEL range is particularly suited to use with the Sensepoint High Temperature sensors, as they have thermally matched beads providing optimum accuracy and stability. This allows alarm points to be set as low as 5%LEL.
Sensepoint XCD RFD is certified for use in hazardous areas by ATEX (European) and IECEx (International).
