Honeywell Unloads Profimatics Software for Kinetic Reactor Simulation

Honeywell Inc.(Phoenix, Ariz.) has sold its SIM-Series simulation models business to KBC Advanced Technologies, Inc. (Thousand Oaks, Calif.). KBC also acquired the rights to the trade name Profimatics.

Honeywell and KBC are the two leading suppliers of kinetic reactor simulation models to the petroleum refining industry. The Honeywell Industrial Automation and Control business managed the kinetic reactor simulation models operation within its Honeywell Hi-Spec Solutions Advanced Applications business unit. All Honeywell personnel dedicated to the these simulations models will transfer to KBC.

The agreement provides for Honeywell to use kinetic models supplied by KBC in its operator training, advanced process control, and on-line optimization businesses. "Honeywell's data-centric approach to advanced control and optimization is improving performance and profitability to customers throughout the process industries," said Russ McMeekin, president Advanced Application business unit for Honeywell's Industrial Automation and Control Business.

McMeekin added that: "Within KBC, the refining-specific kinetic reactor simulation models will continue to have dedicated resources located in Thousand Oaks, California and in the UK. And by way of the sales agreement with KBC, Honeywell will continue to have access to kinetic reactor simulation models for its refining industry customers."
