By offering bundled packages to customers with one point of contact for sales, support, and service, the family simplifies the task of implementing open automation.
Because OpenCNTRL is built on open, PC-based computing technology rather than on a proprietary operating system, the integration of sequential motion, and process control functions, as well as human machine interface (HMI), on a single platform with one programming and runtime environment is possible. The company's OpenHMI visualization software enables plant personnel to see the process and analyze machine performance.
Typical applications include conveying, sorting, batch systems, injection molding, press control, and general machine control. The products are available with color flat-panel displays, from 7.7 inches to 12.1 inches, with resolutions from 640 x 480 x 800 x 600. They are available with keypads and/or a touchscreen. Hitachi and AMD processors are available. PC/104 expansion- up to two cards- is available. Enclosure options include NEMA 4/4X/12 front panel or UL Class 1, Division 2 HAZLOC.

Leveraging available commercial PC technology to industrial applications brings innovation and cost savings to the plant floor. For example, taking advantage of Windows CE and flash drives not only helps PCs face the rigors of the plant floor, it also increases data storage capabilities- exponentially decreasing price per MB of storage.
