Metering Head for Rotational Viscometers

Solartron Transducers has introduced an upgraded metering head for Covimat-105 rotational viscometers. The metering head is designed to simplify installation and reduce costs in process control systems.

The combination of the new head and the Covimat system enables integrated measurement—providing for a direct 4-20 mA output proportional to viscosity in a single flameproof metering head and eliminating the need for a separate controller unit. Integration with flow computers and DCS is thus faster and easier than before.

The Covimat-105 works with Solartron's corrosion-resistant flow cells for in-pipe or open-vessel installation. The in-line cells provide viscosity measurement from 1 cP to 720 KcP, with liquid temperatures to 630°F (350°C)—in line cells can accommodate a temperature sensor—and pressures to 4,350 psi (300 bar). The open-vessel variants offer viscosity measurement from 2 cP to 358 KcP at atmospheric pressure and termperatures to 150°F (65°C). The viscometers have PTB safety approval to Eex d IIB T6 and are CE-approved.
