Mobile Process Technology Introduces the PurgeTech Process

Source: Mobile Process Technology

The Company -
For 30 years, Mobile Process Technology has provided its clients with mobile and land-based water, wastewater and process purification systems utilizing filtration, adsorption, ion exchange, membrane systems and other complimentary technologies. Resource recovery technology, equipment and personnel are routinely provided on a service basis, both short and long term. MPT customers typically prefer to buy results, not equipment. Fees are usually based on a percentage of tangible savings furnished.

MPT's strength is in the development and implementation of technology for process optimization, utilizing innovative combinations of existing separation technologies and decades of hands-on process experience. We do not promote, and therefore attempt to force-fit, an inappropriate technology for an application.

The Process -
The patent pending PurgeTech process is a compact, packaged treatment system that optimizes cooling tower operation. Specifically, the PurgeTech unit removes, concentrates and rejects Calcium, Magnesium, Alkalinity, Sulfate, Silica and Suspended Solids (submicron) from the cooling system, thereby altering the Langelier and Ryznar Indices. Blowdown and chemical usage is dramatically reduced by approximately 75%. Reduced blowdown allows makeup water to be decreased by approximately 20%.

PurgeTech performs as a heavy duty "kidney", receiving a slip stream from the tower recirculation line. The treated effluent is piped back to the tower. The concentrated PurgeTech discharge, containing dissolved and suspended solids, replaces the tower blowdown.

PurgeTech Benefits

  • Reduces chemical usage
  • Reduces blowdown
  • Reduces makeup water requirements
  • Removes silt
  • Reduces operating expense
  • The PurgeTech process meets the top two objectives of the Cooling Tower Institute:

  • TO encourage in all practical ways any efforts, governmental or private, toward the conservation of water as a natural resource.
  • TO encourage the prevention of pollution of water resources by chemical or thermal means.
