The new Model 5100-28 Combustible IR Gas Sensor Module
utilizes Infrared technology to monitor for combustible gases over the range of 0-100%
LEL. The Model 5100-28 is the latest addition to the Sentry Gas Risk Management
System that provides a comprehensive proactive means to monitoring for hazardous
gases. The rugged IR Combustibles Gas Sensor Module requires minimal
maintenance with a calibration check once a year. An integrated weather-shield and
filter prevents dust and moisture contamination of the sensor, thus providing for low
maintenance and long life. It only requires a simple calibration check once a year. The
5100-28 interfaces to the Sentry controller via the proprietary digital Sentry bus. This
two way communication link enhances diagnostic capabilities and simplifies calibration.
Infrared technology has the benefits of:
- Reduced need for calibration and thus lower operating costs.
- Operates in high combustible gas and/or low oxygen environment
- Works in environments where catalytic bead poisons might exist
- Rapid recovery after exposure to high concentrations of hydrocarbon gas (exceeding 100% LEL)
