Organic Oil Solidifier/Encapsulator

Inc.rganic, non-toxic, non-biodegradable, lightweight hydrocarbon absorbent that is effective to use for spill control in a variety of industries, including pulp and paper. It is a naturally occurring oleophilic (oil attracting) peat moss that is heat treated to make it water resistant. It is non-abrasive since it is organic moss matter and will not harm machinery or hydraulics.

This product absorbs hydrocarbons on contact from land, water, metal, cement, and various other surfaces. It is capable of absorbing more than 12 times its own weight in oil based products. The agent has an instant reaction time, and its retention meets leachate standards. It can be stored in a dry place indefinitely. A wide variety of products absorbed include polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB's), fuel oil, oil-based paints, crude oil, oil-based inks, and vegetable oils.

It is especially suited for use in swampy areas where access for conventional spill control is difficult. When applied to oily cement, metal, or other hard surfaces, the absorbent not only absorbs the hydrocarbon but improves traction, reducing the potential for injury due to slipping. This product can be incinerated or placed in a landfill. In certain situations, it can be left on the ground, where natural bioremediation takes place or can be artificially introduced.
