Prefabricated Modular Structures

The Modl 422FSMC prefabricated modular structures are designed for use as a fuel component testing laboratory. The structure is intended to house customer-furnished volatile fuel test chambers, associated equipment, and fuels used for testing. The structure can be used as a freestanding facility or appended to an existing permanent building.

The new 2-hour fire-rated structure is 42 feet in length by 25 feet in width, providing 962 square feet of testing and storage space. The structure is fabricated from heavy gauge steel, structural channel and tubing in combination with UL classified fire resistive gypsum wallboard with R11 insulation. It is equipped with a secondary spill containment sump and all surfaces are protected with chemical resistant coatings. Doors are provided at both ends of the building for personnel access and loading/unloading supplies and equipment. Each door is furnished with a security lock equipped with an inside safety release.

Environmental controls and safety accessories include a series of explosion vent panels along the length of one side of the building, together with dual dry chemical fire suppression systems, air inlet vents equipped with 3-hour fire rated dampers, explosionproof exhaust ventilation, explosionproof electricals, emergency eye wash and shower, and fire alarm system.

The structures ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding building construction and the storage, handling, and use of hazardous materials including the Uniform Building & Fire Codes, BOCA National Building & Fire Codes, Standard Building & Fire Codes, and the National Electrical Code for the design, construction, and use of Group H occupancies.
