PEI has designed many pump/compressor stations.
The size ranges from a few hundred horsepower to
several thousand horsepower. The prime movers have
been electric motors with straight speed or VFD,
diesel or gas engines and natural gas fueled
turbines. One of the more complicated designs was
for a heated crude oil pipeline. Some of the
stations utilized natural gas turbines for the
prime movers. The exhaust gas from the turbines
was utilized to heat the crude oil.
Maintenance activities have included an audit of maintenance procedures at a c ompressor station. The audit discovered a deficiency that resulted in a reduction in meter accuracy. Work can also include projects to repair or replace defective or worn out equipment.
