Storage Cylinder

Dresser-Rand Co.D-R HOS storage cylinder design includes two unloader ports—one on each end. Each can be utilized as either an end unloader or as an automatic FVCP (Fixed Volume Clearance Pocket). Additionally, an FVCP can be supplied in the cylinder outer head. All regulation devices may be used while the compressor is in service. Dresser-Rand Co.cylinder design provides an access hole to the inlet gas passage just above each unloader port. When used as a port unloader, this hole is opened and the gas passes from the bore through the port unloader back to the inlet passage. Dresser-Rand Co.large port area reduces the power losses and heat buildup. When used as an FVCP, the access hole is closed and the gas passes from the bore into the FVCP. The ports are now completely separate from the compressor valves, so valve flow area and cylinder efficiency are not compromised.
