SulphCo Announces Latest Test Results - Newly Improved Reactor Shows Major Upgrade of California SJV Heavy Crude Oil
SulphCo's Newly Improved 1,000 Barrel Per Day Reactor for Its Patented High-Powered Ultrasonic Desulfurization Process Upgrades San Joaquin Valley (SJV) Heavy Crude Oil (Increases API Gravity and Reduces Sulfur)
SPARKS, Nev., Sept. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SulphCo, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: SLPH), the world's leading developer and marketer of high-powered ultrasound technology and equipment for the petroleum industry, announced today that its newly designed 1,000 barrel per day reactor and ultrasound technology unit demonstrated significant results in increasing the API gravity and lowering sulfur content of San Joaquin heavy crude oil in SulphCo testing over the last several weeks. In laboratory testing of the San Joaquin heavy crude, SulphCo's new reactor improved the API gravity from 15 to 25 API gravity; reduced the sulfur percentage of the San Joaquin Valley heavy crude from 1.5 percent sulfur to 0.8 percent sulfur; and yielded a reduction of residual/asphaltenes (thick petroleum byproduct) by approximately 85 percent.
Results of this SulphCo testing indicate that much more useable oil can be produced from every barrel of crude oil processed. This could potentially lead to a significant increase in the volume of high value oil products produced (up to 16 gallons per barrel for SJV).
In making the announcement, Dr. Rudolf Gunnerman, SulphCo's Chairman, Founder and CEO said, "We are both encouraged and excited by the results of these in-house tests which further validate our commitment to bringing the most efficient and affordable desulfurization technology to oil refiners and producers worldwide. We believe our ultrasound technology can lead to large-scale usage of unused heavy crude oil in capped wells throughout the United States."
