Tecnofluor and Fluor Daniel Win First Phase of Venezuelan Project
Petrolera Ameriven S.A. has awarded Tecnofluor and Fluor Daniel contracts to provide a basic engineering package for Petrolera Ameriven's proposed Hamaca crude upgrader at Jose, Venezuela. The total installed cost of the facilities located at Jose will be approximately $1.5 billion; the combined value of the contracts is approximately $12 million.
Tecnofluor and Fluor Daniel will perform basic engineering for the facility, which will enable Petrolera Ameriven S.A. to confirm its decision on developing this project and provide a basis from which to move into the detailed engineering, procurement and construction of the facility. Work is underway in Tecnofluor's Caracas, Venezuela, office and in Fluor Daniel's Irvine, Calif., office. Approximately 130 employees will work on the project at its peak. Project completion is scheduled for November 1998.
Petrolera Ameriven S.A. is an association of four oil companies: U.S.-based ARCO, Texaco and Phillips Petroleum, and Venezuela-based Corpoven, an affiliate of the country's national oil company, PDVSA.
Tecnofluor is Fluor Daniel's national company in Venezuela. Fluor Daniel, the principal subsidiary of Fluor Corporation, is a global engineering, construction, maintenance and diversified services company with more than 60 offices worldwide.
