Trucks Surpass 1 Million Miles Without an Oil Change
"PREMO PLUS" System Filters and Re-Refines Oil Eliminating Need For Costly Oil Changes
Tampa, Florida, September 18, 2000-- Premo Lubrication Technologies, the leader in engine and hydraulic oil filtering systems, announced today that several Class 8 trucks surpassed one million miles of heavy duty, day-to-day driving without a complete oil change using the "PREMO PLUS" system.
A regional freight carrier in the Pacific Northwest, became the first "PREMO PLUS" customer to log more than million miles on several of its "PREMO PLUS" equipped trucks. This customer has been using the "PREMO PLUS" system for nearly eight years on a majority of its more than 250 Class 8 trucks. To ensure engine reliability, the company constantly tests the oil every 15,000 miles through independent labs, confirming the quality and exceptional condition of the oil. "They reported a 5 cent/mile cost savings using our system. Drastically Improved Service Life
The "PREMO PLUS" oil by-pass system filters oil to an absolute 3um, that is, the filter traps 99.5% of all particles 3 microns or larger on each pass of the oil through the filter. Traditional filters "nominally" filter between 30 and 40 microns. "Nominally" means that all filters will take out particles as small as 1um, because they get trapped behind larger particles, but they are called "nominal" because there is no way to calculate the percentages they take out on each pass. The unit then heats the oil in a separate chamber to vaporize and vent off any liquid contaminants.
The improved filtering and re-refining process can extend truck service life for years, saving customers thousands in new fleet acquisition costs. The oil change process has also been drastically simplified. Simply spin-off the "PREMO PLUS" 3um Filter, spin-on a new one, and top off the oil with 2-3 new quarts… NOT the 48 quarts normally needed to do a complete oil change. The recommended filter changing frequency of 20,000-30,000 on the "PREMO PLUS" filter (and 75,000 on the engine full flow filter) saves down time too.
