Verticore Technologies Releases Verticore Productivity Solution, Version 2.1
Among the major enhancements in VPS 2.1 is the addition of plant.TASK, which dynamically manages work processes necessary for smooth and reliable operations. VPS 2.1 also includes the addition of plant.WIRELESS, an application which gives field-based personnel wireless access to other VPS applications via handheld computers based on Microsoft's Pocket PC platform.
The Verticore Productivity Solution accomplishes in a unique way the needed steps of connecting, aligning, and dynamically managing the work processes within an organization. Through a personalized portal interface or wireless handheld device, each employee has access to all the information, services, and applications they need to accomplish the right work. Verticore's Scorecard helps align each employee's priorities with key success factors, and then helps them track their path towards accomplishment.
Once employees are aligned in their efforts, work processes are dynamically managed in a way that reflects industry best practices. Companies that have instituted the solutions on which VPS was modeled have realized more than $25 million in documented savings annually.
"With the latest version of VPS, process manufacturers will be able to institutionalize best practices aligned to the overall needs of the business, dynamically manage their work processes, and ensure the right work is completed by the right people at the right time," said Allan Reaburn, president and chief operating officer of Verticore Technologies. "Verticore has committed itself to delivering $55 billion in measurable Operational Effectiveness to its clients by 2008, and the newest version of VPS marks a major step in our ability to meet that goal."
plant.TASK provides the ability to institutionalize best practices and allows necessary work to be evenly distributed among crews and shifts. In addition to providing automatic scheduling of regular work, the software application provides the ability to route tasks representing best practices to individuals or to make the task available to the first available employee of a particular group. plant.TASK serves up tasks to users through the myTasks module in a personalized portal interface.
Using software hosted on Symbol Technologies' PDT 28XX series handheld wireless computers, plant.WIRELESS lets operators view assigned tasks and necessary documentation, and to view exception conditions and reports. Data is entered only once by field personnel, and can then be synchronized with VPS servers, ensuring data consistency. The rugged, handheld computers on which plant.WIRELESS is based are certified for use in many hazardous environments.
Verticore executives announced availability of the latest version of VPS during a news conference at PlantSuccess, an annual conference for senior managers in the process industries. To mark the release of VPS Version 2.1, Verticore Technologies is offering a special introductory offer on software licenses.
