The Seaman Corporation's XR-5 Geomembrane System is proven to withstand the harshest environments and contaminants
WOOSTER, OH - The Seaman Corporation's XR-5 Geomembrane System is proven to withstand the harshest environments and contaminants. From subzero temperatures to blistering UV rays. From waste water to hydrocarbon containment. XR-5 provides greater performance than other chemical-resistant liners. In fact, the 30-mil XR-5 material is stronger than polyethylene of twice its thickness.

Job-proven with 25 years of installations in the world's most demanding long-term geomembrane applications, typical uses for the XR-5 fabric include floating covers, primary and secondary containment systems of hydrocarbons, pond liners, oil spill booms, and floating baffle systems.

Proven time and time again, XR-5 outperforms high density polyethylene (HDPE) in puncture resistance and yield strength. The secret is XR-5's extremely tough woven composite fabric of DuPont Dacron polyester fibers coated with an exclusive compound. The base fabric is saturated during the manufacturing process, and the substrate and coating are chemically bonded into a single monolithic membrane. Delamination is virtually impossible and no edge-coating is required because the fabric will not wick. The exclusive XR-5 coating compound contains DuPont Elvaloy KEE. This resin modifier is non-crystalline, not susceptible to environmental stress cracking and will neither migrate nor become brittle over time.
These components make XR-5 flexible, easy to install, heat weldable, and resistant to environmental stress cracking. Furthermore, the large prefabricated panels keep field seaming to a minimum (only 2 seams per acre fabrication). Where seams are necessary, XR-5's coating compounds are easily heat welded, providing a strength equal to the liner fabric. These characteristics make the XR-5 an excellent choice for large-scale projects and around irregular contours.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the Seaman Corporation is known worldwide for developing innovative, high performance fabrics used to construct entire structures, containment systems, roof membranes, truck tarps, billboard signage and other products.
